Founded in 1983, the ASUC Student Legal Clinic was established to help educate the Berkeley community about available legal options. Today, the clinic continues with this tradition. Interns provide fully researched case reports to clients in search of legal aid. Clients can drop by the office Monday-Friday to obtain assistance from the dedicated interns. With our new VITA program, clients who are in need of tax assistance can now phone-in to make appointments. Besides offering help to the community, the SLC also fosters a friendly environment where interns can interact with other students who share similar interests. The weekly meetings feature guest speakers, such as CAL alumni, Berkeley Law admissions officers, and local lawyers. Furthermore, the internship is a great opportunity for students to become acquainted with the pre-law process.
